TO THE PEOPLE OF THIS LAND, SACRAMENTO'S ONLY FEDERALLY RECOGNIZED TRIBE, MAY WE HONOR THE NATIVE PEOPLE WHO CAME BEFORE US AND STILL WALK BESIDE US TODAY ON THESE ANCESTRAL LANDS. WE ARE STILL THIS SUPPORT OF YOU PASSING A RESOLUTION NEXT YEAR.

FOR THE INTERNATIONAL DAY OF TRANSGENDER VISIBILITY.

WE HOPE TO SEE THAT ON ONE OF THE AGENDAS WHEN THE YEAR STARTS. SO THAT BY MARCH, THAT IS ALL TAKEN CARE OF. NTA WANTS TO RECOGNIZE THE COMMITMENT TO COMMUNITY SCHOOLING.

IT IS NOT AN INITIATIVE. IT IS A FUNDAMENTAL SHIFT IN THE WAY WE MAKE DECISIONS AS A DISTRICT.

THIS IS A WAY TO SENTER THE STUDENTS AND THEIR VOICE.

IT IS NOT GOING TO BE AN EASY AND QUICK FIX.

IT IS A LONG-TERM COMMITMENT TO CHANGE THAT REQUIRES EVERYONE TO BE WILLING. LOOKING FORWARD TO BEING ABLE TO PRESENT COMMUNITY SCHOOLS TO ALL OF YOU NEXT MONTH.

ALONGSIDE THE DISTRICT. AND BEING ABLE TO ANSWER QUESTIONS AND SHARE AND SHOW THE SUCCESS THAT IS WE HAVE SEEN IN CALIFORNIA AS WE HAVE EMBARKED ON THIS JOURNEY.

I ALSO KNOW THAT SOME ISSUES FROM THIS YEAR STILL PERSIST.

ALL OF OUR SITES ARE STILL CONCERNED ABOUT LACK OF CONSISTENT BEHAVIOR SUPPORTS AND CONSEQUENCES.

EVEN WITH THE ADDED SUPPORT, WITH THE TRAINING, WE ARE STILL LOOKING FOR MODEL THAT IS ALLOW FOR BEHAVIOR CONCERNS TO BE ADDRESSED ON CAMPUSES IN A MEANINGFUL WAY.

KEEPING TEACHERS AND CLASSROOM LONG-TERM IN THIS DISTRICT IS GOING TO BE DEPENDENT ON THEM FEELING SUPPORTIVE AND SAFE.

WE ARE NOT THERE YET. WE ARE STILL PUSHING FOR PRINCIPLES TO-- PRINCIPALS TO GET MORE MEETING TIME.

STAFF-CENTERED SOLUTIONS. WE ARE STILL CONCERNED ABOUT THE PLANNING GOING INTO NEXT YEAR. IN TERMS OF DEMAND ON TEACHERS' TIME, IN REGARD TO ASSESSMENTS, PROGRAM MATTICK TRAINING REQUIREMENTS ON TOP OF THE REGULAR DUTIES OF TEACHING.

COLLABORATING WITH THEIR PEERS IN A MEANINGFUL WAY.

MANY OF OUR EIGHT-HOUR EMPLOYEES HAVE BEEN REACHING OUT, TALKING ABOUT THE PRESSURES OF THE GROWING DISTRICT AND THE AMOUNT OF WORK THAT THEY HAVE ON THEIR PLATES.

WE ARE LOOKING FORWARD TO DISCUSSION THAT IS CREATE MORE SPACES FOR TEACHER-LED COLLABORATION AND SUPPORT FOR THOSE EIGHT-HOUR EMPLOYEES. FINALLY, TO THE COMMUNITY TONIGHT, TO OUR MEMBERS, TO EVERYBODY ELSE, I WANT TO MAKE SURE THAT PEOPLE ENCOURAGE PEOPLE TO TAKE PART IN THE FORWARD FIVE THAT IS ON THE DISTRICT'S WEBSITE RIGHT NOW.

THAT IS IMPORTANT NOT JUST FOR THE PEOPLE SITTING ON THE DAIS.

IT IS AL IMPORTANT FOR ALL OF US IN CLASSROOMS. SO ANY OF THE TEACHERS THAT ARE SITTING AT HOME, SOMETIMES THEY SIT AT HOME WATCHING. I WANT TO ENCOURAGE EVERYBODY TO PARTICIPATE IN THAT. WE WILL SHARE WITH OUR MEMBERS THE IMPORTANCE OF THIS DATA AND ENCOURAGE THEM TO RESPOND AS WELL. SO IN CLOSING, NTA HOPES THAT EVERYBODY WHO CELEBRATES HOLIDAYS THIS TIME OF YEAR ENJOYS THEM. ATHLETES ARE OFF TO A GREAT START ALSO. ESPECIALLY THE MEN'S BACK TEAM WITH WINNING A RECORD TO DATE. THEY ARE EXCITED TO SEE WHAT THE WRESTLING AND SOCCER TEAMS WILL DO THIS SEASON.

SENIORS ARE PREPARING FOR FINANCIAL AID SEASON WITH FEDERAL STUDENT AID WORKSHOPS. AND ALL STUDENTS ARE INVITED TO ENJOY COOKIES AND COCOA IN THE HOMEWORK CENTER.

AT INDERKUM HIGH SCHOOL, HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS ARE FINISHING UP THE FALL SEMESTER STRONG AND GEARING UP FOR FINALS.

SENIORS ARE RECOGNIZED DURING LUNCH WITH A CELEBRATION.

IN THE ATRIUM, HOLIDAY PICTURES AND ACTIVITIES TOOK PLACE LAST WEEK WITH A MEET-AND-GREET. AS WELL AS A PICTURE OPPORTUNITY WITH THE TIGER MASCOTS FOR STUDENTS.

THE ANNUAL HOLIDAY CONCERT WAS LAST THURSDAY.

THE HIGHLIGHT OF THE NIGHT WAS THE FINALE OF THE ENSEMBLES AND ORCHESTRA PLAYING TOGETHER. THE THEATER WAS FILLED WITH FAMILY AND FANS. CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL THE FALL ATHLETES WHO EARNED LEAGUE AND SECTION HONORS, INCLUDING THE VARSITY GIRLS WATER POLO TEAM, FOR MAKING IT TO THE SECOND ROUND OF DIVISION ONE PLAY-OFFS AND BEING NAMED THE TEAM WITH THE HIGHEST GPA IN THE FALL SEASON FOR THE ENTIRE SECTION.

THIS FRIDAY, DISCOVERY HIGH SCHOOL WILL CELEBRATE THE CULMINATION OF THE HOLIDAY SPIRIT WEEK WITH THE HOLIDAY DESSERT BANQUET HOSTED BY THE HOSPITALITY-CULINARY CLASSES. STUDENTS ARE CONTINUING TO EARN CREDITS TOWARDS GOALS FOR GRADUATION FOR UNIT FIVE.

STUDENTS WHO EARN 80% OF THEIR CREDITS OVER THE LAST TWO UNITS WILL BE CELEBRATED WITH A GOLD STAR PARTY ON DECEMBER 21.

DISCOVERY HIGH SCHOOL'S BACK SEASON WILL START ON JANUARY 8 WHEN STUDENTS RETURN FROM WINTER BREAK.

BASKETBALL IS ONE OF THE MOST POPULAR ANTICIPATED SPORTS THAT STUDENTS LOOK FORWARD TO AT DISCOVERY.

SCHOLARS ARE WORKING HARD TO FINISH UP QUARTER TWO AND ARE PREPARING FOR THE FINALS. THERE WAS A PANCAKE BREAKFAT LAST WEEK AND BOOTHS WITH CRAFTS FOR SALE.

THIS PAST TUESDAY, SENIORS HAD THEIR PITCH NIGHT.

SENIOR PITCH NIGHT HIGHLIGHTS THE PASSION, DETERMINATION, AND GRIT OF SENIORS IN THE BUSINESS, ENTREPRENEURSHIP PATHWAY.

THIS THURSDAY, BAND STUDENTS WILL HAVE THEIR WINTER CONCERT BEGINNING AT 6:30 P.M. IN THE MULTI-PURPOSE ROOM.

ON FRIDAY, THE ART DEPARTMENT WILL BE HOSTING THE ACADEMY FOR ART SHOW. ALL STUDENTS IN ART CLASS WILL HAVE THEIR WORK SHOWCASED. BEGINNING AT 5:00 P.M.

ALL ELIGIBLE STUDENTS SUBMITTED AN APPLICATION TO A UNIVERSITY AND THOSE NOT ELIGIBLE APPLIED TO COMMUNITY COLLEGES.

AT THE MIDDLE SCHOOL, THEY ARE WRAPPING UP QUARTER TWO WITH A FOCUS ON ACADEMICS, AND FINISHING THE QUARTER STRONG.

100 STUDENTS HAD AN OPPORTUNITY TO CONNECT WITH AUTHOR AND PROGRAM CREATOR TYSON AMIR. IT WAS A GREAT START FOR STUDENTS TO BEGIN ASSESSING, ACCESSING THE CURRICULUM AND COMPLETING ACTIVITIES RELATED TO THE PROGRAM.

THE MIDDLE SCHOOL ALSO CELEBRATED THE FAMILY EVENT LAST NIGHT WITH MANY STUDENTS AND FAMILIES ENJOYING CRAFTS, GAMES, MUSIC, AND THE COMPANY OF STAFF AND FRIENDS.

THIS IS A WONDERFUL HOLIDAY TRADITION.

I'M VERY APPRECIATIVE TO ROBYN'S WILLINGNESS TO BE VERY OPEN-MINDED ABOUT THE NEEDS OF THIS DISTRICT.

VERY STRATEGIC ABOUT CHANGE. ALSO BEING ABLE TO KIND OF LOOK TO THE FUTURE TO SEE EXACTLY WHAT WE NEED TO TACKLE.

AND WATCHING THE PLAYERS SHAKE HANDS AT THE END, YOU COULD TELL SEVERAL OF THEM KNEW EACH OTHER. IT WAS GREAT TO SEE THAT HAPPEN.

AND THEN AS TINO MENTIONED, I HEARD THE THREE FINALISTS ON PITCH NIGHT. THEY TALKED ABOUT THE COMPANY THEY WERE STARTING. THERE WERE JUDGES.

THEY ALL GOT UP AND PRESENTED. THEY WERE AMAZING.

THEY DID A LOT OF HARD WORK. I HAD A LOT OF GREAT TIME, TOO DURING THE DELIBERATIONS WHEN THE JUDGES WERE BEHIND THE SCENE. SEVERAL STUDENTS CAME UP AND SPOKE WITH ME. AND SO I HAD 15-20 MINUTES OF JUST ASKING THEM ABOUT THEMSELVES, WHAT THEY WANTED TO DO IN THE FUTURE. WHAT THEY ENJOYED ABOUT SCHOOL.

THEY WERE GREAT. THAT WAS PROBABLY THE BEST PART OF MY DAY TO. SEE STUDENTS DO AMAZING THINGS.

AS WE GET INTO PRESENTING SECOND INTERIM, WE WILL HAVE A MORE SOLID NUMBER FOR NEXT YEAR. RIGHT NOW, THE RECOMMENDATION IS 1% COLA. FORECASTED FOR NEXT YEAR.

MY NAME IS NOEL MILLER. I'M A FRESHMAN AT INDERKUM HIGH SCHOOL. I'M HERE TO TALK ABOUT TWO MAJOR CONCERNS THAT I HAVE BEEN DEALING WITH FOR THE PAST MAYBE ONE OR TWO MONTHS. THE FIRST ONE IS STUDENT BEHAVIOR. THERE HAS BEEN A LOT OF VIOLENCE AND FIGHTING AND JUMPING AND BRAWLS AT MY SCHOOL.

THE MOST MAJOR ONE WAS THE BRAWL BACK N OCTOBER THAT KIND OF MOVED ON FROM THAT. YESTERDAY I ACTUALLY WITNESSED MAYBE FIVE OR SIX PEOPLE JUMPING ONE PERSON.

TO THE POINT WHERE I COULDN'T EVEN SEE THE PERSON GETTING JUMPED. I'M NOT VERY SURE WHERE TO GO WITH THIS. BASICALLY, VIOLENCE HAS BEEN A MAJOR PROBLEM, AND I JUST REALLY APPRECIATE IT IF WE COULD DO MORE TO TRY TO FIX THAT ISSUE. AND THE SECOND ONE IS SMOKING.

THIS ONE OF THE WINGS AT MY SCHOOL, I CAN SMELL WEED.

NEAR THE BATHROOMS. OR IN THE HALLWAYS.

I MET WITH THE PRINCIPAL. HE DISCUSSED THINGS WITH ME IN REGARDS TO HAVING A PROGRAM OR SOMETHING COME IN AS FAR AS HELPING IMPROVE THE CULTURE OF THE SCHOOL.

I HAVEN'T HAD ANY FOLLOW-UP IN REGARDS TO THAT.

AND I DO UNDERSTAND THAT BEING A PARENT AND AN EDUCATOR MYSELF, MY CONCERN IS WITH REGARD TO BEHAVIOR IN THE CLASSROOM, WHAT HAPPENS IF TEACHERS DON'T FEEL SUPPORTED? MAYBE THEY REMOVE A STUDENT FROM THE CLASSROOM.

IF NOTHING HAPPENS AFTER THAT, THEN HOW CAN WE GET TO THE ROOT OF THE PROBLEM? THEN ALSO IN REGARDS TO WHAT SHE SAID IN REGARDS TO THE SMOKING. I HAVE A REAL CONCERN WHEN SHE COMES HOME. ONE, SMELLING LIKE MARIJUANA.

AND THEN TWO, ON A CONTACT HIGH. FROM SCHOOL.

IT IS UNACCEPTABLE. SO I JUST WOULD HOPE THAT THERE IS SOMETHING-- I'M A PARENT THAT IS INVOLVED.

I CAN VOLUNTEER. I WISH MORE PARENTS WERE HERE TO EXPRESS CONCERNS AND RALLY WITH US.
