I JUST WANTED TO SHARE THAT I WAS ABLE TO VISIT TWO SCHOOLS LAST WEEK, TWO RIVERS AND LEEWAY GREEN AND IN PARTICULAR AT TWO RIVERS I GOT TO OBSERVE THE CLASSROOMS, WAS A BIG PART OF THE CLASSROOM AND IN PARTICULAR I WAS REALLY EXCITED WHEN I SAW KIDS ENGAGED IN ACTIVITIES THAT HELP DEVELOP SOCIAL SKILLS AND ALSO HIGHER-LEVEL THINKING SKILLS.

IT WILL WAS REALLY -- IT WAS FUN TO WATCH THEM INTERACT WITH EACH OTHER, IN PART WHEN THEY USED LANGUAGE THAT ADULTS SHOULD USE ON A REGULAR BASIS, LIKE, YOU KNOW, LIKE I UNDERSTAND YOUR POINT OF VIEW. HOWEVER, WOULD YOU LIKE TO HEAR MY POINT OF VIEW.

AND SO THAT ALWAYS MAKES ME SO HAPPY WHEN I HEAR YOUNG KIDS USING THAT KIND OF LANGUAGE THINKING THAT'S I'M HOPING THAT CARRIES THEM THROUGH THE YEARS. AND SO AT TWO RIVERS I HAD A CHANCE, I ACTUALLY WAS STOPPED BY ONE OF THE -- ONE OF OUR CLASS PEOPLE WHO WORK IN THE OFFICE WHO SHARED HOW SHE'S JUST SO GRATEFUL TO THE TEACHERS AT TWO RIVERS BECAUSE WHEN THE STUDENTS ARE ABSENT THE TEACHERS WILLINGLY AND, YOU KNOW, WITHIN A TIMELY PERIOD PUT POCKETS TOGETHER FOR THOSE KIDS WHO HAVE TO STAY AT HOME FOR WHATEVER REASON, WHETHER IT'S THE PANDEMIC OR AN EXTENDED ILLNESS AND SHE SHOWED ME AND WANTED TO MAKE SURE I SAW HOW SHE ENTERS THAT INFORMATION IN THE COMPUTER AND THAT ALTHOUGH THE WORKLOAD WAS HEAVY SOMETIMES SHE WAS VERY -- SHE WAS VERY GRATEFUL TO THE 250E67ERS AND SHE DIDN'T MIND BECAUSE SHE KNEW THE KIDS WERE BETTER AT HOME, STAYING SAFE AND NOT SPREADING THEIR GERMS AMONG THEIR CLASSMATES.

AT LEROY GREEN, IT'S GREAT TO VISIT THIS SCHOOL SITE BECAUSE IT'S GOT SUCH A BEAUTIFUL CAMPUS WHEN YOU WALK AROUND WITH ALL THE TREES AND SUCH A SMALL SCHOOL AND AGAIN I WAS GRATEFUL TO BE ABLE TO WALK THROUGH THE CLASSROOMS AND LISTEN TO KIDS ENGAGED IN CONVERSATIONS AND I THINK THAT'S PROBABLY ONE OF THE BEST THINGS IS THAT WHEN I GO TO THESE CLASSROOMS IS WATCHING THE STUDENTS ENGAGE WITH ONE ANOTHER BECAUSE THAT'S WHERE YOU SEE WHAT TYPE OF LEARNING HAS OCCURRED, OF THE SKILLS THEY HAVE. KIND OF ON THIS DATE, LEVEL OF CSBA, I JUST YOU KNOW HAVE BEEN DOING MULTIPLE RADIO INTERVIEWS AND A COUPLE OF TV INTERVIEWS ON THE GOVERNOR'S BUDGET. TWO POINTS I WANT TO SHARE, ALWAYS ASKED BY THE PUBLIC IS, YOU KNOW, SO WHY DO YOU NEED MORE MONEY IF YOUR SCHOOL DISTRICT BECAUSE YOU HAVE SO MUCH MONEY NOW. AND SO WHY DO WE KEEP HEARING ABOUT THIS CLIFF THAT WILL HAPPEN IN POTENTIALLY THREE YEARS SO IT'S JUST AN OPPORTUNITY FOR US AND I THINK FOR US AS TRUSTEES TOO TO REMIND THE PUBLIC THAT, YOU KNOW, WE DID RECEIVE A LOT OF ONE-TIME MONIES, A LOT OF IT CAME, YOU KNOW, IN THE FORM OF RELIEF FUNDS AND THAT MONEY ISN'T GOING TO LAST FOR VERY LONG GIVEN THE EXTENDED NEEDS OF THE PANDEMIC, SO IT MAY LOOK LIKE WE HAVE A LOT OF MONEY AND, YES, WE ARE GRATEFUL TO THE GOVERNOR FOR THE MONEY THAT WE HAVE.

HOWEVER, THAT MONEY IS TEMPORARY AND ALSO THE FEDERAL ONES THAT WE RECEIVED, THAT MONEY IS TEMPORARY AND SO I THINK THAT WE'RE DOING A GOOD JOB WITH THE MONEY THAT WE HAVE RECEIVED AND I'M PROUD OF THE WAY THAT WE HAVE SPENT THE MONEY AND THE WAY WE'VE TARGETED IT FOR KIDS.

AND THEN FINALLY, YOU KNOW, ONE OF THE THINGS THAT'S ASKED IS ABOUT AS WE TALK ABOUT LEARNING LOSS AND THERE'S JUST SO MUCH, SO MUCH ATTENTION TO THIS TOPIC RIGHT NOW IN TERMS OF, YOU KNOW, WHAT ARE WE DOING AS NOT ONLY AS A SMALL DISTRICT, SMALL OR LARGE DISTRICTS, BUT WHAT ARE WE DOING ACROSS THE STATE AND I THINK WE'LL BE LOOKING AT THIS FOR A LONG TIME AND EVEN KNOW NATOMAS LEADS IN BY A LOT OF EXAMPLES, I THINK, YOU KNOW, WE ARE ALSO GOING TUBE -- THIS IS SOMETHING WE'RE GOING TO CONTINUALLY BE LOOKING AT BECAUSE INNING WE'RE ALREADY SEEING IN SOME DISTRICTS ACROSS THE STATE UNFORTUNATELY THE LOSS OF LEARNING ON WHAT IT HAS ON STUDENTS AND THIS IS SOMETHING REALLY IMPORTANT TO ME BECAUSE AS I'VE SAID BEFORE, KIDS ONLY HAVE ONE CHANCE IN A PARTICULAR GRADE LEVEL AND WE HAVE TO ALWAYS MAKE SURE THAT WE GIVE THEM THE BEST OPPORTUNITY TO LEARN IN THAT PARTICULAR GRADE LEVEL. OTHERWISE IT'S VERY CHALLENGING TO CATCH UP. I THINK THAT'S IT. THANK YOU.

I AM MOST IMPRESSED BY YOUNG STUDENTS AND SCHOOL EVERY SINGLE, SEVERAL FROM [INDISCERNIBLE] HIGH SCHOOL. I WAS WORKING WITH A GROUP OF BOYS LAST WEEK, YOUNG MEN.

I SHOULDN'T CALL THEM BOYS. YOUNG MEN WHO STARTED THIS AS THEIR SENIOR PROJECT AND THEY'VE NOW INVITED THEIR COUSIN WHO GRADUATED LAST YEAR, THEIR OTHER COUSIN WHO GOES TO A NEIGHBORING HIGH SCHOOL IN A DIFFERENT DISTRICT AND THEY'RE OUT THERE HUSTLING, PUTTING BAGS IN CARS, SLINGING 50 POUNDS OF YAMS, YOU KNOW, HELPING BREAK IT DOWN AND THEY CONSTANTLY TESTED ME, WE LOVE THIS. THIS IS SO MUCH BETTER. I DIDN'T LIKE DISTANCE LEARNING.

I STARTED THIS T FOR MY SENIOR PROJECT BUT THIS MAKES ME FEEL GOOD AND THEY'RE LIKE, WE'RE JUST GOING TO KEEP COMING BACK AND SO I'M SO IMPRESSED BY OUR GENERAL GENERATION.

THERE'S A COUPLE OF YOUNG LADIES WHO I HAVE SEEN FOR OVER A YEAR AND A HALF WHO ARE ONLY SOPHOMORES THAT COME EVERY FRIDAY TO VOLUNTEER SO WE HAVE A SPECTACULAR COMMUNITY AND GROUP OF HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS THAT REALLY MAKE ME PROUD FOR HOW THEY'RE GIVING BACK.

I JUST WANT TO ECHO EVERY TRUSTFIS' COMMENTS, THANK YOU TO OUR STAFF.

I WALK MY KIDS TO SCHOOL EVERY DAY AND I GO IN AND I SEE THE PRINCIPAL AT THE FRONT OFFICE ANSWERING PHONES AND I SEE SO MANY PEOPLE TAKING THEIR PREP TIME AND HELPING OTHERS.

I SEE TEACHERS VOLUNTEERING KNOWING THAT THEY'RE GOING TO BE DOWN A TEACHER AND A GRADE LEVEL, THAT THEY'RE SPLITTING THE CLASSES HAPPILY AMONG THEMSELVES SO I SEE HOW HARD EVERYBODY'S WORKING, OUR JANUARY OFFICERS, OUR NUTRITION SERVICES, YOU KNOW, PEOPLE PICKING UP WHERE THEY CAN AND THAT IS SO APPRECIATIVE AND THEN OFFICIALLY THE CAP BLIP FOR KIDS SCHOLARSHIP IS OPEN -- KAPLAN FOR KIDS SCHOLARSHIP IS OPEN THE APPLICATION HAS BEEN OUT TO THE HIGH SCHOOLS AND THE DEADLIE IS IN MARCH SO HOPE WE GET KIDS TO APPLY FOR THAT BECAUSE I LOVE GIVING OUT BOOKS. WE PLAN TO NEGOTIATE THE FOLLOWING ITEMS. CHRISTINA, EVERYTHING WE LOOKED AT IN TERMS OF OR BARGAINING GOALS ALIGNS WITH THE L-CAP. IN PARTICULAR WE FOCUS ON GOALS. NUMBER ONE, INCREASE STUDENTS' SUCCESS IN ELA, MATH, SCIENCE, LITERACY, AND 1EU6 VICKS. TWO, PREPARING STUDENTS TO BE COLLEGE AND [INDISCERNIBLE] CONNECTED TO THE SCHOOLS. GOAL FIVE, RECRUIT, HIRE, TRAIN, AND RETAIN HIGH-QUALITY STAFF FOR COMMITTED COLLABORATIVE CARING AND [INDISCERNIBLE].
