THE MODEL CONTINUATION HIGH SCHOOL RECOGNITION PROGRAM IDENTIFIES AND RECOGNIZES OUTSTANDING CONTINUATION HIGH SCHOOLS HERE IN PARTICULAR THE MODEL SCHOOLS PROVIDE COMPREHENSIVE SERVICES TO ADD-RISK YOUTH THROUGH THE USE OF INSTRUCTIONAL STRATEGIES, FLEXURAL GUIDANCE AND SERVICES.

NEAR THE END OF FEBRUARY BEFORE THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC WE LEARNED DISCOVERY HIGH SCHOOLS IS ONE OF 43 SCHOOLS IN THE STATE TO EARN THE 2020 MODEL CONTINUING HIGH SCHOOL WERE IMPORTANT WE ARE NOT ABLE TO CELEBRATE THIS ACHIEVEMENT IN PERSON AND THE RECOGNITION WAS DELAYED WE WERE TO THE PANDEMIC, WE ARE INCREDIBLY HONORED TO RECOGNIZE THE DEDICATE STUFF YOU DON'T WANT JUST TO SAY THANK YOU ALL IN EACH AND EVERY CERTIFICATE AND CLASSIFIED STAFF MEMBER FOR MAKING THE DIFFERENCE IN THE LIVES OF STUDENTS AT DISCOVERY HIGH SCHOOL. I'M DAVID RODRIGUEZ, ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL OF THE SCHOOL BOARD DISCOVERY HIGH SCHOOL PROVIDES ACCREDITED ALTERNATIVE EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES FOR STUDENTS OF NATOMAS UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT FOR DISCOVERY HIGH SCHOOL IS RECOGNIZED AS AN AWARD-WINNING ALTERNATIVE SCHOOL IS IN THE TOP FIVE IN REGARDS TO GRADUATION RATES AMONG 39 ALTERNATIVE EDUCATION SCHOOLS SHOULD WE PROVIDE A SCHOOL ENVIRONMENT WHERE STUDENTS RECEIVE INDIVIDUAL ATTENTION AND DEVELOP A SENSE OF COMMUNITY AND A SMALLER LEARNING ENVIRONMENT.

THE PROGRAM IS DESIGNED TO ALLOW STUDENTS THE OPPORTUNITY TO MAKE UP ACADEMIC AND FOR THE DEFICIENCIES IN AN ACCELERATED MANNER.ILL PROGRAM STUDENTS IN LEARNING HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA AND BE IN COLLEGE AND CAREER READY. THIS IS DONE THROUGH TRADITIONAL COURSES AND DISCOVERIES HOSPITALITY BACK WHICH INCLUDES CULINARY ARTS, FOOD SERVICE AND RESTAURANT OPERATION. STUDENTS HAVE OPTIONS TO COMPLETE COURSES, GAIN WORKPLACE SKILLS AND PRACTICE LEADERSHIP.

AND SO THAT IS HOW DISCOVERY HIGH SCHOOL HELPED ME AND ON TOP OF THAT WE CAN ALWAYS TALK TO THE STAFF AND I CAN ALWAYS TALK TO THE TEACHERS IN GENERAL. AND YOU KNOW THEY ARE THERE FOR YOU. JUST LIKE I CAN TELL MY MOM ANYTHING.

SO THAT IS ONE WAY DISCOVERY HIGH SCHOOL HELPED ME. >> PROUD DISCOVERY HIGH SCHOOL HOME OF THE BULLDOGS, TEACHER. I HAVE LEARNED OVER THE YEARS THAT ARE DISCOVERY HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS ARE THE MOST AMAZING, MOST CAPABLE STUDENTS THAT EVER TAUGHT.

THE NIGHT TALK SOME NATOMAS UNIFIED SCREEN JUST. TO SEE THEM CONNECT TO THEIR SCHOOL AND DO BY INTO OUR MISSION, OUR GOAL. TO TRULY COMPARE THEM FOR A CAREER IN COLLEGE PATHWAY THE ON HIGH SCHOOL. BUT THE END RESULTS WHEN WE SEE THE STUDENTS ACROSS THE STAGE. I WOULDN'T TRADE IT FOR THE WORLD.

SO YEAH, I LOVE WORKING AT DISCOVERY HIGH SCHOOL. IT IS THE MOST SATISFYING ASSIGNMENT THAT I HAVE HAD IN THE NATOMAS UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT.

TRUSTEES, SUPERINTENDENT, STAFF AND COMMUNITY BUILDING THE NIGHTLY RECOGNIZE FILIPINO AMERICAN HISTORY MONTH IN THE NATOMAS UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT IN SUPPORT OF OUR CORE BELIEF OR DIVERSITY IS A STRENGTH. OR DIVERSITY IS WHAT MAKES THE NATOMAS COMMUNITY SO UNIQUE, SPECIAL AND ONE OF THE MOST DESIRABLE PLACES TO LIVE IN THE SACRAMENTO REGION.

THUS ATTRIBUTES ARE REFLECTIVE THROUGHOUT THE DISTRICT OR FILIPINO AMERICANS WERE PRESENT FOR THAT EIGHT PERCENT OF OUR STUDENT POPULATION. PRODUCTIVE, RESPONSIBLE AND ENGAGED GLOBAL CITIZENS.

AT INDERKUM WILL BE HAVE THE LARGEST NUMBER OF FILIPINO AMERICAN STUDENTS, WE HAVE AN ACTIVE FILIPINO YOUTH CLUB THAT CONNECT STUDENTS TO THE FILIPINO CULTURE AND ALLOWS STUDENTS TO CONNECT WITH OTHERS TO MAKE NEW FRIENDS AND CREATE WONDERFUL RELATIONSHIPS.

INDERKUM ATHLETES ARE ENGAGED WITH THEIR SMALL POT ON CAMPUS AFTER SCHOOL AND OUR SENIORS ARE ENTERING THEIR COLLEGE APPLICATIONS. NEXT LEROY GREENE ACADEMY STUDENTS HAVE BEEN GETTING INTO ATHLETICS AND COLLEGE READINESS AS WELL AS I HAVE 25 PERCENT OF THE STUDENTS AND ONE CLUB DURING THE ANNUAL CLUB RUSH. AND NATOMAS HIGH NIGHTHAWKS ARE THRILLED WITH THE COMPLETION OF THE NEW TRACK AND FIELD IN PREPARATION FOR THE COLLEGE APPLICATION AS WELL WITH ONE WHOSE ONLY STUDENTS THAT ATTENDED ASHFORD COLLEGE NIGHT AT NATOMAS HIGH POST IN VIRTUALLY. LASTLY, NATOMAS MIDDLE SCHOOL IS PART OF THEIR PANTHERS FOR KICKING OFF THE CLUB SCHOOL ON THIS PAST WEEK WITH A FOCUS ON EQUITY. AND OUR SCHOOLS ARE LOOKING FORWARD TO ENGAGING STUDENTS WITH COLLEGE READINESS IN THE CAMPUSES. MY ASSIGNMENT WAS TO DOCTOR FIRST-GRADERS ABOUT WHAT IT IS LIKE TO BE A FIRST GRADER. SO I HAD TO GO BACK IN TIME TO REMEMBER WHAT IT WAS LIKE TO BE A FIRST GRADER ON THE FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL.

AND ALSO WHAT IT WAS LIKE AS A TEACHER TEACHING FIRST GRADE. I WILL SAY THIS.

I THINK THE TEACHER DID A GREAT JOB OF TRYING TO KEEP THE STUDENTS ENGAGED.

I DID THE BEST I COULD WITH MY CLASSROOM MANAGEMENT SKILLS OF KEEPING THE KIDS ENGAGED WHO I DIDN'T KNOW THEY WERE NEW. AND IT REMINDED ME OF THE HARD WORK TEACHERS PUT IN DURING THE DAY TO NOT ONLY KEEP THEIR KIDS ENGAGED AND FOCUSED, BUT TO KEEP THEM THINKING AND CRITICALLY THINKING ABOUT THEIR WORK AND WHAT THEY ARE TRYING LEARN THAT SHORT AMOUNT OF TIME THAT I WAS WITH THEM. SO THE KIDS, I SURVEYED THE KIDS, ASKED THEM HOW MANY KIDS LIKED LEARNING ONLINE AND HOW MANY KIDS DIDN'T LIKE LEARNING ONLINE AND SURPRISINGLY IT WAS ABOUT HALF-AND-HALF. DIDN'T SURVEY THEIR PARENTS. ANYWAY, IT WAS A GREAT TIME.
