HER FRESHMAN YEAR SHE REALIZED SHE MISSED HER FRIENDS AND WHERE SHE GREW UP AND STILL LIVES SO SHE TRANSFERRED BACK TO NATOMAS HIGH SCHOOL. HE PLANS TO JOIN LATINOS AMIGOS THIS SCHOOL YEAR. SHE PLANS TO GO TO COLLEGE HOPING TO ATTEND UC DAVIS WHERE SHE WOULD LIKE TO MAJOR IN BIOLOGY TO BECOME A DERMATOLOGIST.

SHE ENJOYS PHOTOGRAPHY AND BAYCY SITTING HER NIECES AND NEPHEWS.

SHE WANTS TO BRING THE VOICE OF STUDENTS AND LET THEM KNOW THEIR VOICE MATTERS. WE ALL WELCOME YOU ESTEPHANIA AND MAKE IT OFFICIAL. WE'LL NOW ADMINISTER THE OATH OF OFFICE. RAISE OUR RIGHT HAND.

I ROPEDERRED WHY WE WERE NOT USING THE CORE CURRICULUM OR M C3 WHICH IS SPONSORED BY NORTH AMERICA'S BUILDING TRADES AND ALLOWS PRIORITY REFERRALS INTO APPRENTICESHIP PROGRAMS FOR GRADUATES OF THE PROGRAM. IT IS MY CONTENTION THAT WE MUST PRACTICE WHAT WE PREACH AND GIVE STUDENTS A CHANCE TO MAKE A LIVING WAGE IN THE WORLD AND PROVIDE FOR THEIR FAMILIES AND WHEN WE BUILD, BUILD WITH CONTRACTORS THAT PROVIDE THAT SAME LEVEL OF SECURITY FOR THEIR WORKERS.

LATER TONIGHT WHEN WE DISCUSS THE NEXT ISSUE THAT WE INCLUDE IN THAT DISCUSSION A REQUEST TO THE SUPERINTENDENT AND STAFF TO RESUME THEIR EFFORTS NOT BEGIN BUT RESUME THEIR EFFORTS TO BRING FORWARD A PROJECT LABOR AGREEMENT TO THE BOARD FOR DISCUSSION AND HOPEFUL APPROVAL. AS A PARENT OF AN INCOMING TK STUDENT AND A SECOND GRADER, I'M TERRIFIED. SO EVERY PARENT OUT THERE I'M WITH YOU, I DON'T KNOW HOW I'M GOING TO RUN A BUSINESS AS WELL AS WRANGLE TWO KIDS AT THE SAME TIME BUT HERE'S WHERE I HAVE FAITH. I HAVE FAITH IN OUR STAFF AND TEACHERS TO MAKE SURE THAT OUR STUDENTS ARE NOT ONLY LEARNING BUT WE'RE ADDRESSING THE SOCIAL EMOTIONAL NEEDS EVEN THOUGH WE'RE DOING IT AT A DISTANCE BECAUSE WHEN WE PICKED UP OUR TEXTBOOKS AND WE WENT THROUGH TO FIND OUT WHO THEIR TEACHERS AND TO GET SUPPLIES IT TOOK A LOT OF WORK.

TEACHERS PUT IN A LOT OF EFFORT TO MAKE SURE STUDENTS FELT SPECIAL. AND SO WHILE OUR FIRST DAY TOMORROW IS GOING TO THE BE EXCITING BECAUSE IT'S THE FIRST DAY, FRUSTRATING BECAUSE I'M SURE THERE WILL BE TECHNOLOGY ISSUES AND SOME REASONABLY PRUDENT PERSON A LITTLE SAD BECAUSE THEY'RE NOT WITH THEIR FRIENDS.

KNOW THAT WE KNOW HOW HARD EVERYBODY AND ALL OF OUR TEACHERS HAVE WORKED TO MAKE THIS HAPPEN.

THIS IS A SLIDE WE SHOW AT STAFFING AND WE'VE ALSO SHOWN START OF SCHOOLS. WHAT'S DIFFERENT THIS YEAR IS THAT WE'RE IN THIS NEW COVID WORLD AND OUR PROJECTIONS ARE PROJECTIONS AND WE USE THOSE FOR STAFFING PURPOSES.

HOWEVER, WE'RE IN THIS SETTING WHERE THE FUNDING IS A LITTLE BIT DIFFERENT AND WE'LL TALK ABOUT THAT ON THE NEXT SLIDE BUT LOOKING BACK AT OUR PROJECTIONS, WE'RE ABOUT 158 BELOW WHICH IS -- YOU CAN GO TO THE NEXT ONE.

WE DID PROJECT OUR GROWTH AND STAFFED IT ACCORDINGLY.

WE ADDED STAFF THIS YEAR FOR THAT PROJECTED GROWTH BUT BUDGETED FOR NO STUDENT GROWTH AND WHAT I WAS REFERRING TO OVERLIEER ALL DISTRICTS ARE BEING HELD HARMLESS THIS YEAR FOR DECLINES AND THAT WAS PART OF THE CHANGE.

SO HOW ARE WE GOING TO FIND OUR KIDS? ONE WAY IS WE LOOK AT THE TEXTBOOKS WE'VE DISTRIBUTED.

THROUGH TODAY AT ABOUT NOON, WE'RE TRACKING IT ALONG THAT AND STILL AT THIS .93% OF STUDENTS HAVE COME AND PICKED UP TEXTBOOKS. WE'RE WORKING TO CALL FAMILIES DAILY AND THAT'S WHAT IS GETTING PEOPLE TO COME.

OUR GOAL WEB THAT 95% OF STUDENTS HAVE PICKED UM THEIR INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS BY SEPTEMBER 4TH WHICH WOULD BE A WEEK FROM FRIDAY. THAT'S TYPICAL WITH OUR NORMAL PRACTICE. IT'S WHEN WE WOULD LOOK AT IF WE'D NOT MADE CONTACT WITH STUDENTS DO WE MAKE THEM INACTIVE AND STEADS AND THEN GO FROM THERE.

ALL THE EFFORTS THAT YOU SEE DURING THIS TIME THEY'RE ALL CONNECTED TO OUR NEXT FIVE GOALS, THE BOARD APPROVED GOALS FROM ANYTHING FROM ELA AND MATH ALL THE -- THAT'S BEEN GOING ON TO DISTRICT BOOKS AND EXTRA SUPPLIES FOR SOME OF OUR STUDENTS. AND THEN AGAIN HIRING RIGHT NOW WE'RE GOING TO TALK ABOUT THAT IN A MINUTE.

CREATING THAT SAFE AND WELCOME LEARNING ENVIRONMENT.

THEY ADOPT CHECK OUT TEXTBOOKS LIKE YOU WOULD IN THE UPPER GRADES BUT THEY HAVE ACCESS TO CHROME BOOKS AND TECHNOLOGY AND WE'VE BEEN CHECKING THAT OUT AS WELL.

WE HAVE HELPING OUT AT SCHOOLS AND IN DISTRICT DEPARTMENT OFFICES. WE'VE GOT IAS AND WE'VE GOT HEALTH ASSISTANCE. THEY'RE ALL HELPING IN DIFSHT WAYS. ALSO HELPING US TO GET PPD OUT TO SITES. WE'VE HAD A LOT OF STAFF TRAINING GOING ON AS YOU KNOW WITH OUR NTA.

WE HAVE JUST OVER 600 CERTIFICATED FTD SO ON THE FIRST DAY WHEN IT'S NOT EVEN A REQUIREMENT OVER HALF THE STAFF CHOSE TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THE PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT OFFERINGS AND DURING OUR -- YOU CAN SEE THERE WE AVERAGED AT 300 SO IT CONTINUED THROUGH A VARIETY OF THINGS.

THIS ALLOWS THE DISTRICT TO REBOUND OR REFINANCE THE BONDS WERE MEASURED D WHICH WAS SOLD BACK IN 206-2007 IN THE AMOUNT OF $145 MILLION.
