PROCEDURE: The Board of Trustees welcomes the public's participation at Board Meetings and has devoted time in the meeting for that purpose. The Board requests that you fill out a Public Comment card and turn it in to the Superintendent's Assistant. Your name will be called under the appropriate agenda item or Public Comment section of the agenda. Presentations from the public are limited to two (2) minutes regarding any item that is within the Board's subject matter jurisdiction. The Board shall limit the total time for public input on each item to 20 minutes. Please note that Government Code Section 54954.2(a) limits the ability of Board Members to respond to public comments. In addition, the Board may not take action on any item which is not on this agenda except as authorized by Government Code 54954.2. |

PROCEDURE: There are a number of exceptions to the requirement that the public business is done in public. The Legislature has articulated these exceptions because of public necessity for confidentiality or because an open disclosure would violate the privacy rights of an employee or a pupil. |

Staff previously shared information regarding a plan to expand American Lakes, Bannon Creek and Jefferson from K-5 schools to K-8 schools. Tonight's presentation will look at the progress that has been made with the expansion to 6th grade and the steps being taken to accommodate the continued growth at the school sites to K-7 in the 2018-19 school year and K-8 in 2019-2020. |

Per Section EC 56101(a) a Special Education from Natomas High School is applying for the algebra waiver.
The legal authority for special education waiver is: Education Code Section 56101: (a) Any district, special education local plan area, county office, or public education agency, as defined in Section 56800, may request the board to grant a waiver of any provision of this code or regulations adopted pursuant to that provision in the waiver is necessary or beneficial to the content and implementation of the pupil’s individualized education program and does not abrogate any right provided individuals with Disabilities Education Act (20 U.S.C. Sec. 1400 et seq.), or to the compliance of a district, special education local plan area, or county office with the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (20 U.S.C. Sec. 1400 et seq.), Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1903 (29 U.S.C. Sec. 794), and federal regulations relating thereto. (b) the board may grant, in whole or in part, any request pursuant to subdivision (a) when the facts indicate that failure to do so would hinder implementation of the pupil's individualized education program or compliance by a district, special education local plan area, or county office with federal mandates for a free, appropriate education for children or youth with disabilities. |

Recruitment efforts were put in place for additional membership for the Measure D Citizen's Bond Oversight Committee. One application was received from Erin Naudin filling the Parent/Guardian designation. The Board is asked to approve this appointment. Bylaws and Education Code require a minimum of seven (7) members serve on the committee. Following this new member appointment, there are seven (7) active committee members. The committee member list is attached showing member terms and designations.
Recruitment efforts continue and applications are being accepted to fill the vacant member position to serve representing a local Business Organization.

Troxell, a NUSD CUPCCA vendor, will provide seven 80" televisions and carts for the Jefferson Modernization classroom expansion. The total contract with Troxell is Twenty Nine Thousand Seven Hundred Forty Four Dollars and Ten Cents ($29,744.10). |

As part of the Jefferson Modernization and K8 Conversion projects, relocatable classrooms will be utilized for classroom space. The ramps and decking surrounding the relocatable classrooms require repair prior to use of the classrooms. REM Construction, Inc., a NUSD pre-qualified contractor, has provided a proposal to perform the work for a not to exceed amount of One Hundred Thousand Dollars ($100,000.00). |
