MOVING ON TO COMMUNICATION. [XI.a. Student Board Member] SO OUR STUDENT BOARD MEMBER, YOU ARE UP FIRST WITH YOUR REPORT. >> GOOD EVENING, SUPERINTENDENT CASTILLO, PRESIDENT HEREDIA, IF I'M PRONOUNCING THAT, CORRECT. I HOPE I AM. BOARD MEMBERS AND GUESTS. IN THE PAST TWO WEEKS, DISCOVERY HIGH SCHOOL HAS HAD A BOOMING ATTENDANCE RATE IN THEIR CTE CLASSES. THOSE INCLUDE COSMETOLOGY, BUILDING CONSTRUCTION, AND HOSPITALITY. ON THE INDERKUM CAMPUS, ALL ACADEMIC PROGRAMS, ATHLETIC TEAMS, CLUBS, AND STUDENT GROUPS HAVE STARTED BACK UP. THIS PAST FRIDAY, INDERKUM MADE AN APPEARANCE ON [00:05:02] GOOD DAY SACRAMENTO AS THE GAME OF THE WEEK, TAKING THE WIN AGAINST MONTEREY TRAIL. AT LEWEY GREEN ACADEMY, THE IMPLEMENTATION OF AVID SCHOOL WIDE ADVISORY LESSONS BEGAN THIS MONTH, WITH ALL ADVISORY CLASSES TEACHING ORGANIZATIONAL SKILLS AND CONNECTING GOAL SETTING TO WEEKLY GRADE CHECKS. NATOMAS HIGH STARTED OFF STRONG WITH BOTH A SPARE WEEK IN ORDER TO PUMP UP THE NIGHT HAWKS FOR AN INTRODUCTION TO FALL SPORTS AND THEIR FIRST FOOTBALL GAME AGAINST FOOTHILL HIGH. THE DUAL ENROLLMENT RATE AT NATOMAS HIGH HAS ALSO GROWN SIGNIFICANTLY. WITH STUDENTS HAVING STARTED THEIR RSC CLASSES THIS PAST MONDAY. FINALLY, OVER AT NATOMAS MIDDLE SCHOOL, THE NEW WEB PROGRAM WHERE EVERYONE BELONGS WAS LAUNCHED. THE WEB PROGRAM GAVE NMS THE OPPORTUNITY TO ADD NEW ELECTIVES TO THEIR COURSE LIST, THE MOST ANTICIPATED BEING LEADERSHIP. THIS WEEK, I'M LOOKING FORWARD TO LEWA GREENS BACK TO SCHOOL NIGHT ON AUGUST 29TH WHILE HOPEFULLY CONTINUING A WINNING STREAK FOR THE IHS FOOTBALL TEAM. I'D LIKE TO THANK ALL OF OUR COUNSELORS, LINK CREW, AND WEB LEADERS, HELPING EASE THE TRANSITION FROM MIDDLE TO HIGH SCHOOL FOR OUR NEW NINTH GRADERS IN THIS DISTRICT. [XI.b. Board Members] >> GO BACK HERE FOR A MINUTE. TRUSTEE DOSICK. >> ENJOYED BEING ABLE TO GO A COUPLE OF BACK TO SCHOOL NIGHTS. IT'S HARDER AND HARDER TO GET AS MANY AS I WOULD REALLY LIKE. SO I JUST WANTED TO GIVE A SHOUT OUT TO TWO IN PARTICULAR. GOT A CHANCE TO GO SEE PRINCIPAL KEELER AT JEFFERSON AND PRINCIPAL BIRDSONG AT HIS NEW SITE AT NATOMAS MIDDLE. IT WAS JUST REALLY NICE TO BE ABLE TO ACKNOWLEDGE A COUPLE OF OUR SITE LEADERS WHO'VE BEEN AROUND FOR OVER A DECADE EACH IN THEIR VARIOUS ROLES. IT JUST REALLY NICE TO SEE WHAT THEY'RE DOING AND JUST TO SEE THE CLIMATE ON CAMPUS AND THE EXCITEMENT OF THE START OF THE SCHOOL YEAR. OF COURSE, THIS COMES A SHOCK TO NO ONE, BUT WAS VERY HAPPY THAT INDERKUM FOOTBALL STARTED UP ON FRIDAY NIGHT. GREAT WIN BY THE TIGERS HELD ON IN THE FOURTH QUARTER. THEY MADE IT A LITTLE TOO EXCITING FOR MY TASTE. BUT IT WAS A VERY EXCITING GAME AND TO QUOTE MY GOOD FRIEND, DANNY ROJAS, FOOTBALL IS LIFE. >> TRUSTEE HARDEN. >> I ECHO EVERYTHING THAT MY FELLOW TRUSTEES HAVE SAID EXCEPT FOR BACK TO SCHOOL NIGHT. I MADE IT OVER TO BANNON CREEK AND JEFFERSON. IT'S WONDERFUL JUST TO SEE EVERYONE BACK IN SCHOOL, AND IT SEEMS AS THOUGH FAMILIES, COMMUNITY HAVE ALL COME BACK TO THE NEW NORMAL AND WE'RE ALL ADJUSTING. THANK YOU. >> THANK YOU. TRUSTEE MORA. [NOISE] >> I WILL ALSO KEEP THIS VERY BRIEF. DEFINITELY, I ALSO WANT TO CELEBRATE THE START OF SCHOOLS. I KNOW WE HAVE A CELEBRATION IN JUST A LITTLE WHILE, BUT A HUGE CONGRATULATIONS TO BANNON CREEK SCHOOL WITH THE IB SCHOOL AUTHORIZATION AND THAT IS IT FOR MY REPORT. THANK YOU. >> THANK YOU. TRUSTEE GRANT. >> DIDO. NO REPORT. >> I HAVE NO REPORT EITHER JUST LOOKING FORWARD TO THE CELEBRATION FOR BANNON CREEK. LONG TIME COMING THOUGH. I'M GOING TO TURN THIS OVER NOW TO OUR SUPERINTENDENT CASTILLO. [XI.c. Superintendent's Report ] >> THANK YOU. WELL, A FEW THINGS ON AUGUST 17TH, CHIEF OF STAFF, CHRISTINA HUTH AND I ATTENDED THE DISTRICT 1 TOWN HALL MEETING WITH OUR MAYOR, DARRELL STEINBERG, AND COUNCIL MEMBER LISA KAPLAN. IT WAS NICE TO HEAR UPDATES THAT AFFECT OUR NATOMAS COMMUNITY. WITH BACK TO SCHOOL NIGHTS SINCE THE LAST MEETING, I WAS ABLE TO ATTEND. THERE'S A LIST. NATOMAS PARK, HERON, HEREDIA-ARRIAGA, PASO VERDE, H. ALLEN HIGHT, NATOMAS MIDDLE, JEFFERSON, BANNON CREEK, LARRY G. MEEKS, INDERKUM. TOMORROW, I'M GETTING READY TO HIT LGA, DISCOVERY AND NATOMAS HIGH. THIS YEAR I'VE BEEN TRYING TO DO A SELFIE WITH ALL OF THE ADMINISTRATIVE TEAMS WHEN I GO AROUND. THAT'S MY GOAL TO DO THAT, IT'S FUN. THEN I ATTENDED LAST FRIDAY NIGHT, THE SACRAMENTO COUNTY OFFICE OF EDUCATION, TEACHER OF THE YEAR, AND WE WERE CELEBRATING SABRINA PROCIW FROM TWO RIVERS ELEMENTARY SCHOOL AND I HAVE TO SAY THAT SHE HAD THE CUTEST PERSON INTRODUCING HER. IT WAS HER FORMER STUDENT, MAVERICK, AND HE CAME DRESSED TO THE NINES AND GOT UP, AND SO YOU SEE THIS LITTLE SEVEN, EIGHT YEAR OLD UP THERE INTRODUCING, AND OF COURSE, STOLE THE HEARTS OF THE AUDIENCE. IT WAS GREAT TO BE THERE AND SUPPORT HER AND ALSO OUR WINNER FROM LAST YEAR, DONJA HARDING SPOKE AND TALKED ABOUT THE PROCESS, SO IT WAS NICE TO SEE DONJA THERE AS WELL. I'VE MET WITH OUR NTA LEADERSHIP TEAM AND I AM ALSO VERY EXCITED THAT FALL SPORTS HAVE STARTED, AND I AM LOOKING FORWARD TO ATTENDING AS MANY OF THE EVENTS AS I CAN GET OUT TO. THAT IS MY REPORT FOR THIS EVENING. [XII.a. Recognition of IB Authorization - Bannon Creek School ] [00:10:15] >> BANNON CREEK STAFF, WHO ARE IN ATTENDANCE THIS EVENING. WE ARE SO GLAD THAT YOU COULD BE WITH US, AND ANGELA HERRERA WILL LEAD US THROUGH THE CELEBRATION. >> THANK YOU SO MUCH, PRESIDENT HEREDIA, TRUSTEES, SUPERINTENDENT AND STAFF AND COMMUNITY. TONIGHT, WE'RE PLEASED TO CELEBRATE. THE BANNON CREEK SCHOOL HAS BECOME THE NEWEST INTERNATIONAL BACCALAUREATE AUTHORIZED PRIMARY YEARS PROGRAM IN NATOMAS UNIFIED. IB PRIMARY US PROGRAM, OR AS WE CALL IT PYP, IS PART OF THE CONTINUUM FROM TK THROUGH 12TH GRADE IN NATOMAS. BANNON JOINS H. ALLEN HIGHT, PASO VERDE, JEFFERSON, AND AMERICAN LAKES, AND IS OUR FIFTH IBO PRIMARY YEARS SCHOOL. THE BUILT OUT OF THIS CONTINUUM HAS BEEN A FOCUSED EFFORT, AND IT'S BEEN AN INVESTMENT BY USER BOARD OF TRUSTEES WITH A VISION AND FORESIGHT TO RECOGNIZE HOW THIS CAN SUPPORT OUR DIVERSE STUDENT POPULATION, AND WE THANK YOU FOR THAT. IB IS A STUDENT CENTERED APPROACH TO EDUCATION, WHICH IS WELL ALIGNED TO OUR DISTRICT'S VISION AND CORE OF VALUES. IB PROVIDES A RIGOROUS FRAMEWORK FOR TEACHING AND LEARNING, AND ALL FRAMEWORKS SUCH AS IB ARE THE FOUNDATION FOR EQUITY AND EDUCATION. IB PROGRAMS ENCOURAGE PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT AS WELL AS ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT, THAT CHALLENGES OUR STUDENTS TO THINK CRITICALLY, TO ASK QUESTIONS, AND TO FOSTER STUDENT AGENCY OR VOICE, AS WE CALL IT. THE IB FRAMEWORK ALSO PROVIDES RICH OPPORTUNITIES FOR PROFESSIONAL GROWTH FOR STAFF, AS WELL AS THAT CROSS SITE COLLABORATION BETWEEN THE IB SCHOOLS AND OUR CONTINUUM. BANNON CREEK STUDENTS AND STAFF WORK VERY HARD TO ACHIEVE AUTHORIZATION OF THEIR PYP. BANNON CREEK STUDENTS WILL DEVELOP KNOWLEDGE, CONCEPTUAL UNDERSTANDING, SKILLS, AND THE ATTRIBUTES OF THE IB LEARNER PROFILE THAT YOU'LL HEAR ABOUT AS YOU GO TO SITES TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN NOT ONLY THEIR OWN LIVES, BUT IN THEIR COMMUNITY FOR YEARS TO COME. WE ARE SO EXCITED TO CELEBRATE THE BANNON CREEK STAFF THIS EVENING ON THEIR ACCOMPLISHMENT OF BEING AUTHORIZED AS AN OFFICIAL IBO WORLD SCHOOL. I'M GOING TO ASK PRINCIPAL SUSAN HOLTZMAN TO COME UP HERE TO THE PODIUM WITH ME AND SAY A FEW WORDS. >> THANK YOU SO MUCH. GOOD EVENING, BOARD OF TRUSTEES, PRESIDENT HEREDIA, AND SUPERINTENDENT CASTILLO. I FIRST WANT TO START BY CONGRATULATING MY STAFF FOR THEIR HARD WORK IN MAKING THIS ACCOMPLISHMENT POSSIBLE. BECOMING AN IB SCHOOL REFLECTS OUR COMMITMENT IN PROVIDING A QUALITY, GLOBAL EDUCATION FOR OUR SCHOLARS. WE ARE EXCITED TO CONTINUE THE JOURNEY TOGETHER. ON BEHALF OF OUR BANNON CREEK SCHOOL COMMUNITY, I WANT TO THANK OUR BOARD OF TRUSTEES AND OUR SUPERINTENDENT CASTILLO, AND ALSO OUR CAO LEADERS FOR THEIR SUPPORT THROUGH THIS PROCESS OF BECOMING AN IB SCHOOL. I AM SUPER EMOTIONAL, I AM SUPER HAPPY, BUT I DO WANT TO SAY THAT REALLY THE SHINING STARS TONIGHT ARE OUR STAFF. THANK YOU. [APPLAUSE] >> WE'RE SO GRATEFUL FOR ALL OF YOUR SUPPORT. THANK YOU. [APPLAUSE] >> WE JUST HAVE A FEW THINGS. JUST A TOKEN OF RECOGNITION FOR STAFF. WE HAVE SOME CERTIFICATES THAT EACH OF THE STAFF MEMBERS WILL GET AT BANNON CREEK, THAT JUST RECOGNIZES THEIR CONTRIBUTIONS TO THIS ACHIEVEMENT FOR THEIR SCHOOL COMMUNITY. YOU ALSO WILL NOTICE SOME OF THE NICE SHOES THAT THEY ALL GET TO SPORT NOW WITH THE OFFICIAL IB LOGO. PRESIDENT HEREDIA, I'M GOING TO HAND IT BACK TO YOU BECAUSE I BELIEVE YOU HAVE SOMETHING THAT YOU WOULD LIKE TO WORK TO THE STAFF BEFORE WE TAKE A PICTURE. >> I HAVE SOMETHING I WOULD LIKE TO SHARE. I THINK ALL OF US WILL GO TO THE FRONT. [BACKGROUND] >> SUSAN, I WANT TO PRESENT TO YOU THE BANNON CREEK SCHOOL FOR THEIR PRIMARY YEARS PROGRAM AUTHORIZATION AS AN IBO WORLD SCHOOL. THIS IS SO EXCITING FOR ME BECAUSE I REMEMBER WHEN THE BOARD OFFERED TO SUPPORT THIS SCHOOL AND MOVING IT FORWARD AS AN IB SCHOOL. [00:15:03] NOW WE GET TO SEE REALLY PROUD ALL OF YOUR STAFF AND ALL THE TIME AND EFFORT FOR ALL OF YOU TO BRING COUNCIL [INAUDIBLE]. I WILL AWARD THAT TO YOU. [APPLAUSE] >> DROP IN RIGHT NOW. >> YOU GUYS YOU'LL JOIN US TAKE PICTURE. [BACKGROUND] >> EVERYONE, WE CAN'T MOVE THE PODIUM, SO WE NEED TO SHIFT TO AN ANGLE HERE. [BACKGROUND] >> YOU'RE GOING TO LOOK AT ME. I'M GOING TO STAND HERE. [BACKGROUND] >> YOU GUYS ON THIS END COME A LITTLE CLOSER TO THIS WAY. EVERYBODY RIGHT HERE. GOOD, EVERYBODY. READY. GOOD. HANG ON A SECOND. I THINK WE'RE GOOD, EVERYBODY THANK YOU. >> WE ARE NOW AT ITEM 13 A. [XIII. CONSENT ITEMS ] THIS IS TO APPROVE THE CONSENT CALENDAR. I'M LOOKING FOR A MOTION AND A SECOND TO APPROVE THE CONSENT CALENDAR. >> MOVE TO APPROVE. >> MOVED BY TRUSTEE MORA. >> SECOND THAT MOTION. >> TRUSTEE HARDEN SECONDS THE MOTION. WOULD YOU CALL THE ROLL, PLEASE? >> DOSICK. >> AYE. >> GRANT. >> NO. >> HARDEN. >> AYE. >> HEREDIA. >> AYE. >> MORA. >> AYE. >> SWILLAM. >> AYE. >> MOTION CARRIES FIVE ONE. MOVING ON TO THE NEXT. [XIV.a. Instructional Framework with Context Slides ] NOW WE'RE ON TO OUR BOARD REPORTS. ITEM 14A IS THE INSTRUCTIONAL FRAMEWORK WITH SOME CONTEXT SLIDES HERE. THIS IS NOT NOTHING THAT WE ARE GOING TO BE VOTING ON THIS EVENING, BUT THIS IS THE OPPORTUNITY FOR US TO ASK ANY QUESTIONS WE MIGHT HAVE. ARE THERE SLIDES. [OVERLAPPING] >> YES, I'M GOING TO ASK. >> SORRY, ANGELA. >> I'M GOING TO ASK ASSOCIATE SUPERINTENDENT TONYA GERALD TO GET UP AND PRESENT. >> THAT'S WHY I WAS SEEING TONYA SMILING. ANGELA NOT. >> [INAUDIBLE] I'M REALLY EXCITED TO BE HERE SPEAKING ABOUT [INAUDIBLE]. START BY THANKING THE SUPERINTENDENT AND TRUSTEES BECAUSE THERE WERE A SERIES OF INVESTMENTS IN YOUR SUPPORT THAT HAD TO BE IN PLACE TO ENSURE THESE COMPONENTS OF THE FRAMEWORK. MOST SPECIFICALLY, THINGS LIKE TIER 2 AND TIER 3 INTERVENTIONS LIKE READ 180 AND MATH 180, SO WE REALLY WANT TO THANK YOU FOR YOUR INVESTMENT AND YOUR FORESIGHT IN THOSE THINGS. I'M GOING TO START THIS EVENING BY DOING A VERY BRIEF OVERVIEW OF THE COMPONENTS HERE. THE INSTRUCTIONAL FRAMEWORK RIGHT NOW IS A DOCUMENT, AND THE DOCUMENT THAT WAS PUT TOGETHER BY NUSD STAFF IS MADE UP IN 24/25 OF THESE COMPONENTS. IT WORKS AS A COMPANION TO OUR SYSTEM OF ASSESSMENTS CALENDAR. ONE OF THE COMPONENTS THAT'S REALLY CRITICAL, AND YOU'LL SEE ANOTHER SLIDE ABOUT THAT AS ASSESSMENTS. IT ALSO IS THE CORE AND SUPPLEMENTAL MATERIALS THAT OUR TEACHERS ARE USING IN THEIR CLASSROOM. THE TIERED INTERVENTIONS, SO OUR EARLY LITERACY INTERVENTIONS THAT YOU'VE HEARD US TALK ABOUT RECENTLY IN THE LEAP SUMMER BOARD REPORT WITH THE SPRING BOARD, BUT WE ALSO HAVE SIPS, HEGGERTY PHONICS IS A TYPE OF PHONEMIC AWARENESS INTERVENTION FOR OUR EARLIEST LEARNERS. THEN WE HAVE READ NATURALLY, READ 180, AND MATH 180 AS WELL. [00:20:02] THOSE ARE REALLY IMPORTANT AS WE WORK TO SERVE ALL OF OUR STUDENTS THROUGH MTSS. THEN FINALLY, THE COMPONENT OF PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT THAT'S ALIGNED TO HELPING OUR TEACHERS AND ADMINISTRATORS IMPLEMENT ALL OF THE COMPONENTS. I JUST WANT TO CALL OUT BRIEFLY THAT THIS IS JUST THE FIRST ITERATION OF THE INSTRUCTIONAL FRAMEWORK. YOU'LL CONTINUE TO SEE REVISIONS AS WE SEEK FEEDBACK, AND THEN YOU'LL SEE COMPONENTS ADDED LIKE COMMON DISTRICT WIDE INSTRUCTIONAL PRACTICES AND STRATEGIES. THAT'S REALLY IMPORTANT TO CALL OUT. YOU EACH HAVE A LARGER PRINT IN FRONT OF YOU BECAUSE WE REALLY WANT TO THINK ABOUT AN INSTRUCTIONAL FRAMEWORK AS A BLUEPRINT. IT'S THE BLUEPRINT FOR TEACHING AND LEARNING THE NUSD WAY, AND OUR SCHOOLS HAVE THESE IN LARGE SCALE POSTERS REALLY TO HELP OUR FAMILIES, OUR STAFF, AND OUR STUDENTS UNDERSTAND THE COMPONENTS AND THEN WHAT EACH OF THE COMPONENTS CONTAINS. WE WANT TO THINK OF THE INSTRUCTIONAL FRAMEWORK AS A BLUEPRINT. THIS IS A SCREENSHOT OF WHAT THE ACTUAL DOCUMENT LOOKS LIKE RIGHT NOW. WHAT I WANT TO CALL TO YOUR ATTENTION HERE THAT I THINK IS REALLY IMPORTANT FOR THE STAFF THAT PARTICIPATED IN THIS, YOU'LL SEE THAT THESE ARE ORGANIZED BY GRADE SPANS. YOU HAVE A TK2, A THREE FIVE, A SIX EIGHT, AND A NINE 12 FOR ELA AND MATH. OBVIOUSLY, THOSE CONTINUE TO GET EXPANDED AND BE INTEGRATED WITH OTHER CONTENT AREAS AS WE REVISE THE DOCUMENTS. THE BLUE FONT THAT YOU SEE THERE ARE THE RATIONALE THAT THE TEACHERS AND ADMINISTRATORS THAT WORKED ON THE DOCUMENT INCLUDED FOR, FOR EXAMPLE, WHY THIS ASSESSMENT IS INCLUDED AND WHY IS IT THAT FREQUENCY OR FOR THE PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT? HOW DID WE INCLUDE PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT TO SUPPORT EACH OF THE COMPONENTS AND WHY? I JUST WANTED YOU TO BE ABLE TO ACTUALLY GET A LOOK AT WHAT THE FRAMEWORK LOOKS LIKE INSIDE. ANOTHER PORTION IS THE ASSESSMENTS. THIS IS A COMPANION PIECE TO OUR SYSTEM OF ASSESSMENTS CALENDAR, AND THIS IS THE SCOPE AND SEQUENCE. WHAT I WANT TO DRAW YOUR ATTENTION TO HERE IS THAT YOU'LL SEE THE ASSESSMENT NAME. BUT WHAT YOU'LL ALSO SEE IS THE TYPE OF ASSESSMENT BECAUSE IT'S VITALLY IMPORTANT THAT OUR TEACHERS AND ADMINISTRATORS KNOW WHAT TYPE OF ASSESSMENT IS, WHEN YOU USE AN ASSESSMENT FOR WHAT PURPOSE, AND IN WHAT SEQUENCE OVER A YEAR. THEN YOU'LL SEE THAT FREQUENCY, BUT YOU'LL ALSO SEE WHAT LEVEL IT IS, A TIER 1 FOR ALL STUDENTS, A TIER 2, OR TIER 3, SO THAT OUR STAFF HAS A FULL SCOPE AND SEQUENCE AT THEIR GRADE SPAN. THEN I WANT TO JUST STOP HERE BRIEFLY. IT WAS IN THE BOARD REPORT. BUT IT'S REALLY IMPORTANT TO NOTE THAT THIS IS JUST THE FIRST PHASE. WE HAVE A SUMMARY HERE OF WHAT THE NEXT SEVERAL YEARS WILL LOOK LIKE, BUT IT'S REALLY IMPORTANT JUST LIKE WE DO WITH ALL OF OUR WORK IN NATOMAS AND OUR CYCLE OF CONTINUOUS LEARNING AND IMPROVEMENT, THAT THIS WILL GET FEEDBACK ALL YEAR FROM TEACHERS AND ADMINISTRATORS, AND THEN IT WILL CONTINUE TO BE REVISED. THAT WILL HAPPEN OVER TIME. AS YOU KNOW THAT OUR NEXT ADOPTION, WE DID WORLD LANGUAGE THIS YEAR, WERE PROJECTED FOR NOVEMBER OF 2025 TO GET THE APPROVED PUBLISHER LIST FOR MATH. WE ANTICIPATE STARTING A MATH ADOPTION FOR 25/26. THEN, OF COURSE, THIS DOCUMENT, FOR EXAMPLE, WOULD BE UPDATED BASED ON AN ADOPTION AND HOW WE USE THAT COURT OR SUPPLEMENTAL CURRICULUM. >> A QUICK QUESTION IN THE FIRST 24/25, THANK YOU. I HAVE A JOB OUTSIDE OF THIS. MAN, I JUST HAVE TO LET THEM KNOW. THE TEACHER LEADER, HOW IS THAT IDENTIFIED? WHAT'S THE QUALIFICATION FOR TEACHER LEADERS? A VETERAN TEACHER IS A TEACHER WITH LEADERSHIP, LIKE CTA OR NTA. WHAT DOES TEACHER LEADER MEAN THERE? >> THAT'S A GREAT QUESTION. IT'S NOT A FORMAL ROLE, IT'S AN INFORMAL ROLE. WHAT WE'RE ASKING FOR THIS YEAR IS AT LEAST ONE TEACHER LEADER. IT COULD BE A NEW TEACHER, BUT IT COULD BE A VETERAN TEACHER AS WELL, WHO WILL INTEGRATE ALL THE COMPONENTS OF THE FRAMEWORK INTO THEIR INSTRUCTION THIS YEAR SO THAT WE'LL BE ABLE TO PROVIDE FEEDBACK FROM EVERY GRADE SPAN AT EVERY SITE AND ACROSS CONTENT AREAS. IT WOULD BE DECIDED ON AT THEIR GRADE LEVEL OR CONTENT AREA AT THAT SITE. >> THANK YOU. >> THEN FINALLY, THIS IS REALLY IMPORTANT TO STOP HERE THIS EVENING AS THIS OVERVIEW. [00:25:03] THAT'S THANKING THE ELEMENTARY, MIDDLE, AND SECONDARY TEACHERS ALONG WITH ADMINISTRATORS, AND, OF COURSE, CAO STAFF WHO PARTICIPATED IN DRAFTING THIS DOCUMENT AND WHO WILL BE PART OF SEEKING FEEDBACK THROUGHOUT THE YEAR AND THEN REVISING THE DOCUMENT THIS YEAR, AND WE REALLY COULDN'T HAVE DONE IT WITHOUT THEIR INPUT, THEIR EXPERTISE, AND THEIR EXPERIENCE. WE'RE REALLY GRATEFUL TO THIS WORK GROUP. QUESTIONS. >> FELLOW BOARD MEMBERS? YES. >> NO QUESTIONS. >> YES. TRUSTEE MORA. >> I DON'T HAVE A QUESTION. I HAVE A COMMENT. THANK YOU. I APPRECIATE THAT YOU AND THE REST OF THE OFFICE OF THE CHIEF ACADEMIC OFFICER CONSISTENTLY THANK THE BOARD FOR THE DECISIONS TO PURSUE A LOT OF THESE PROGRAMS. BUT I ALSO JUST WANT TO SAY THANK YOU FOR DOING THE PROGRAMS. [LAUGHTER] >> ESPECIALLY ALL THE INPUT THAT COMES FROM, AS WE SAW IN THE LAST SLIDE, ALL OF THE DIFFERENT STAKEHOLDERS ACROSS THE DIFFERENT SCHOOL SITES. IT COULD HAVE BEEN A SHORTER THANK YOU, BUT I WANTED IT TO BE A LONGER THANK YOU. THANK YOU. >> THANK YOU. ANY QUESTIONS? OTHER QUESTIONS FROM FELLOW BOARD MEMBERS, NONE? WELL, TONYA, I HAVE SOME. [LAUGHTER] >> I READ THE REPORT. I JUST WANT TO SAY, I LOVE THESE REPORTS AND I LOVE TO READ THIS STUFF. BUT I JUST WANT TO SAY THAT I REALLY APPRECIATE THIS REPORT BECAUSE I THOUGHT IT WAS VERY CLEAR AND CONCISE. I THOUGHT IT LAID OUT THE PROCESS FOR NOT ONLY THE DIFFERENT ASSESSMENTS, BUT IT DEFINED THE TERMINOLOGY THAT WE USE, AND WE THINK EVERYONE ELSE KNOWS WHAT IT MEANS. THERE MAY HAVE BEEN PREVIOUS REPORTS SIMILAR TO THIS THAT YOU'VE DONE, BUT I REMEMBER THIS ONE BECAUSE THIS ONE IS, I THINK, FOR THE FIRST TIME, ALL THE ASSESSMENTS, AND THE CURRICULUM, AND THE FRAMEWORK, ALL IN ONE PLACE. I DID HAVE A QUESTION THOUGH, AND I HAPPENED TO BE ON PAGE 3 OF THE ORIGINAL REPORT. ONE COMMENT AND THEN A QUESTION. I WAS HAPPY TO SEE THAT THERE'S JUST THIS ONGOING ASSESSMENT OF HOW WELL EVERYONE IS DOING AND WHAT ADJUSTMENTS NEED TO BE MADE THROUGHOUT THE SCHOOL YEAR. IN PARTICULAR, ONE OF THEM WAS THAT BEFORE GOING ON TO THE HIGH SCHOOL YEARS, LET'S SEE HOW THE MIDDLE SCHOOL GRADES DO BEFORE WE EVEN START LAUNCHING IT FOR THE SAKE OF LAUNCHING. BUT I AM CURIOUS ABOUT AND YOU MAY NOT HAVE THIS INFORMATION AT HAND TODAY BUT ON HAND, BUT I CAN GET IT LATER. IN TERMS OF THE ASSESSMENT, WHEN WE TEASE OUT THE ASSESSMENT, FOR EXAMPLE, LIKE SIPS, WE TEASE OUT WHAT IS OFFERED DURING THE DAY AS OPPOSED TO THE AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAMS. DO WE NORMALLY COMBINE ALL THAT DATA OR DO WE TEASE OUT AND REALLY LOOK AT HOW DIFFERENT THE DATA IS DURING THIS REGULAR SCHOOL DAY AND THEN AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAMS? >> WELL, I'M EXCITED YOU ASKED THAT QUESTION. ONE OF OUR AREAS OF FOCUS THIS YEAR IN ED SERVICES IS REALLY TO INTEGRATE MORE SEAMLESSLY THAT DURING THE DAY AND AFTER SCHOOL, AND THAT MIGHT BE AN INTERVENTION GROUP, BUT ALSO OUR LEAP ACADEMY. ONE OF THE PIECES THAT WE'RE DOING THAT WITH THIS YEAR MOST DELIBERATELY IS USING THE I-READY DIAGNOSTIC DATA TO INFORM THE LEAP ACADEMY AND THEN USING STANDARDS ASSESSMENT FROM I-READY TO MEASURE INTERVENTION IN LEAP ACADEMY. I KNOW THAT ONLY ANSWERS PART OF YOUR QUESTION, BUT I WANTED TO TEASE THAT OUT SPECIFICALLY. BUT THERE WOULD BE, FOR EXAMPLE, OTHER INTERVENTION GROUPS THAT WOULD VERY SPECIFICALLY USE SIPS DATA FROM DURING THE DAY IN AND AFTER SCHOOL GROUP RUN BY A TEACHER OR CLASSIFIED STAFF. I THINK SOMETHING THAT YOU MIGHT REMEMBER FROM PRINCIPAL PRESENTATIONS WAS THAT WE HAD SEVERAL SITES DO A PILOT WITH SIPS, AND BECAUSE OF THE EARLY SUCCESSES WE SAW WITH THE WAY THAT DURING THE DAY DATA WAS BEING USED AND INTEGRATED DURING THE DAY AND AFTER SCHOOL, IS THE REASON THAT WE TOOK SIPS DISTRICT WIDE. SO, THAT USE OF DATA BETWEEN DURING THE DAY AND OUTSIDE THE DAY IS WHAT HELPED FORM THIS INSTRUCTIONAL FRAMEWORK. >> YEAH. I JUST THINK HAVING THAT BECAUSE THERE'S ALWAYS VARIABLES [00:30:03] THAT WE'RE NOT ABLE TO CONTROL FOR WHEN WE'RE LOOKING FOR THIS, BUT I JUST THINK THE IDEA TEASE THAT OUT A BIT TO FIGURE OUT, WHAT COULD BE THE DIFFERENCE THERE. ANYWAY, THANK YOU FOR THE REPORT. I APPRECIATE IT AND IT'S GREAT TO READ. ANYONE ELSE? YES. >> I'M SO SORRY. I KNOW I HAD AN OPPORTUNITY TO ASK EARLIER, BUT AFTER YOU MENTIONED THAT AND AFTER HEARING YOU MENTION I-READY, I DO HAVE A QUICK QUESTION. THIS IS BECAUSE I AM A HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT AND I KNOW THAT THERE ARE PLENTY OF OTHER HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS AT MY SCHOOL IN PARTICULAR THAT JUST WANT TO KNOW, AND I WANT TO BE ABLE TO INCLUDE IT IN MY NEXT REPORT, I DON'T KNOW IF YOU HAVE AN ANSWER, BUT ALONG WITH I-READY AND ALONG WITH USING THAT AS AN ASSESSMENT TOOL. IS THERE A REASON THAT WE CONTINUE DOING IT AFTER OUR 10TH GRADE YEAR? LIKE HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS IN PARTICULAR. ARE ALL HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS IN THE DISTRICT DOING IT? IS IT JUST CERTAIN CAMPUSES? I JUST WANT TO KNOW, I'M PURELY ASKING, I ENJOY I-READY, I TEST OUT OF EVERY SUBJECT JUST SO HAPPEN. NO TO TEACH MY OWN HORN. BUT I UNDERSTAND THAT THERE ARE PLENTY OF STUDENTS THAT DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY WE CONTINUE IT AFTER 10TH GRADE AND I WANT TO BE ABLE TO PUT THAT IN MY REPORT IF YOU DO HAPPEN TO KNOW. >> ABSOLUTELY. THANK YOU FOR THAT QUESTION. AT OUR HIGH SCHOOLS, WE USE IXL, SO THAT WOULD BE THE DIAGNOSTIC THAT YOU WOULD SEE IN ELN MATH ACROSS ALL THE HIGH SCHOOLS IN THE DISTRICT. THEN WE WANT TO MAKE SURE TOO THAT ALL STUDENTS UNDERSTAND THAT THEY ARE PREPARING TO TAKE OUR STATE TEST, THE CAST AT 11TH GRADE. IT'S REALLY VITAL THAT WE UNDERSTAND HOW WELL PREPARED OUR STUDENTS ARE IN NINTH AND 10TH SO THAT WE ENSURE THAT THEY'RE READY FOR THEIR 11TH GRADE CAST TEST. THEN IT'S ALSO REALLY IMPORTANT THAT WE DON'T STOP THERE JUST FOR A STATE MEASURE, BUT THAT WE PREPARE OUR GRADUATES FOR THE READING AND WRITING AND MATHEMATICAL SKILLS THAT PREPARES THEM FOR COLLEGE AND CAREER AND BEYOND, AND THAT DATA SHOULD BE USED BY TEACHERS TO HELP PLAN THEIR LESSONS, AND THEN ALSO MODIFY THEIR LESSONS BASED ON THEIR STUDENTS NEED. >> THANK YOU SO MUCH. >> THANK YOU FOR YOUR QUESTION. >> THANK YOU. MOVING ON TO THE NEXT ITEM. [XV.a. Receive the Updated 2022-23 Teaching Assignment Monitoring Outcomes (TAMOs)] THIS IS ITEM 15A. IT'S TO RECEIVE THE UPDATED 2022/'23 TEACHING ASSIGNMENT MONITORING OUTCOMES. THIS AGAIN, DOES NOT REQUIRE ANY ACTION, BUT ARE THERE ANY QUESTIONS IN RELATIONSHIP TO THIS?
