I AM LOOKING FORWARD TO DHS STUDENT LEADERSHIP PLANNING DISCOVERY END-OF-THE-YEAR CELEBRATION AND UPDATING WITH STUDENT AND STAFF, STUDENT LEADERSHIP IS PLANNING THE BLACKOUT RALLY WHICH WE ARE EXCITED ABOUT RE-INAUGURATING THIS BELOVED TRADITION.

OUR AP AND STUDENTS ARE PREPPING FOR THE END OF THE YEAR EXAMS IN THE PUBLIC SAFETY AND ALL ACADEMY ON SATURDAY WHERE THEY WILL COMPETE AGAINST OTHER PUBLIC STUDENTS FROM ALL OVER THE REGION. LGA STUDENTS ARE LOOKING FORWARD TOO THE CULTURE AND CONNECTIVE OF THIS FRIDAY IN THE MULTICULTURAL WEEK NEXT WEEK AS WELL AS THE SCHOOL DANCE AT THE END OF THE MONTH. STUDENTS ARE LOOKING FORWARD TOO THE STAFF VERSUS STUDENT KICKBALL THE MNS TALENT SHOW.

SEEING AND LEARNING THINGS THE MEDIA PATHWAYS IN CONGRESSMAN BARRA BEING VERY GRACIOUS TO LET THE TIGER TALK STUDENTS INTERVIEW HIM ON THE SPOT WITH NO FOREWARNING OF ANY QUESTIONS THAT WERE GOING TO BE ASKED.

AND GETTING PHENOMENAL COFFEE FROM OUR DISCOVERY HIGH SCHOOL CAFÉ STUDENTS. TO SEE IN THE BEGINNING STAGES OF HER COSMETOLOGY PROGRAM OF WHICH TRUSTEE HARDEN ALL HEARD THERE IS 150 WHO SAID THEY ARE INTERESTED IN 62 SPOTS.

DEFINITELY SOMETHING THAT WE HAVE BROUGHT FORWARD THAT OUR STUDENTS ARE INTERESTED IN TO OUR CONSTRUCTION TRADES PROGRAM AND SEEN THAT THE STUDENTS WERE ACTUALLY PAINTING SOME SHEDS THE INTERCOM HIGH SCHOOL ORDERED TO STORE SOCCER GEAR AS WELL AS OUR FREE CLINIC THAT WE USED OUR SERVICE OFFICE AND TURNING INTO A FREE CLINIC AND HELP THE PATHWAY.

THE AQUATIC CENTER OPENING I AM A SPORTS FANATIC.

I LOOK FORWARD TO WATCHING HER STUDENTS PLAY WATER POLO IN SWIM COMPETITIONS. HERE'S THE THING I RECOGNIZE ARCHITECTURALLY. THE STANDS COVER WHERE THE SUN GOES, THE STANDS ACTUALLY COVER IT.

WHEN WE FIRST STARTED TALKING ABOUT THIS THERE WAS ABOUT A FEEDBACK. MAYBE WE THINK BLACK AND LATINO KIDS WE ONLY THINK THEY COULD DO COSMETOLOGY.

THOSE ACTIONS ARE GROUNDED IN OUR NEW VISION AS WELL AS OUR NEW CORE VALUES. ANY OBJECTIVE IS TO PRESENT, DISCUSS AND OBTAIN TRUSTEE ACTION ON EACH PROPOSED 2022 - 2023 BUDGET ACTION PROPOSAL.

AS A REMINDER THINK BACK AT THE END OF FEBRUARY THE TRUSTEES TOOK ACTION TO APPROVE THE STAFFING ALLOCATION FOR NEXT SCHOOL YEAR. AS DOUG SHARED WITH YOU, THAT IS A LARGE PORTION OF OUR BUDGET ALREADY.

IN PLANNING NEXT YEAR'S BUDGET FOR 2022 - 20 3A BIG LARGE PORTION IS ALREADY EARMARKED FOR STAFF.

IT'S BEEN BUDGETED FOR NEGOTIATIONS.

WHICH INCLUDES COMPENSATION FOR EMPLOYEE RAISES, BENEFITS AND EMPLOYER COSTS. WITH THAT SAID IT DOES NOT LEAVE ONGOING FUNDING AVAILABLE FOR ADDITIONAL BUDGET ACTION AT THIS MOMENT. WHAT I WILL PRESENT AND THE NEXT FEW SLIDES ARE BUDGET CONSIDERATIONS FOR YOUR DISCUSSION AND ACTION. I WILL CALL OUT ON EACH ACTION ITEM FOR YOUR DISCUSSION AND AN ACTION ON THE PROPOSED BUDGET ITEM. AS I MENTIONED PREVIOUSLY.

THE BUDGET WITH A LARGE PORTION ARE TO BE BUDGETED IN STAFFING, DOESN'T LEAVE AN ONGOING FUNDING.

THIS IS ONE ITEM THAT IS PRESENTED TONIGHT AS AN ONGOING BUDGET ITEM AND PRESENTED AS AN OPTION.

IN OPTION ONE AND IN OPTION TWO. OPTION ONE IS FOR YOUR CONSIDERATION OF FTE ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL AT RK EIGHT SCHOOLS, BACON LAKES, JEFFERSON. THE PROPOSED BUDGET COST IS 544,000. IT WOULD BE THE ONGOING UNRESTRICTED FUNDING. THE OTHER OPTION WITH A $544,000 IS TO TAKE A LOOK AT THE FIVE SOCIAL WORKERS THAT ARE REMAINING AND FUNDED WITH ONE-TIME PANDEMIC FUNDING.

IF YOU RECALL WE STILL HAVE THAT FUNDING TO THIS 223 - 24.

WITH THE FIVE EDITOR 44000, WE COULD SHIFT FOUR OF THOSE TO ONGOING FUNDING. ALSO TO CONSIDER IF OPTION TWO IS NOT SELECTED, THE FIVE REMAINING SOCIAL WORKERS WILL STILL BE WITH US THROUGH ONE-TIME FUNDING, THE PANDEMIC FUNDING BUT THE 23 - 24 SCHOOL YEAR.

A BIG ITEM ON THIS, DOING BOTH OPTIONS NOW WOULD CREATE AN ONGOING STRUCTURAL DEFICIT. THAT'S WHY THIS PARTICULAR ACTION ITEM IS PRESENTED AS AN OPTION.

AND THAT WOULD REALLY HONE IN TRYING TO SUPPORT STUDENTS AS WELL WITH THEIR HEALTH AND WELLNESS.

I THINK WE UNDERSTAND THAT HAVING A VICE PRINCIPAL HELPS THE PRINCIPAL TO REALLY DO WHAT THEY'RE SUPPOSED TO DO WHICH IS TO LEAD THE SCHOOL AND FOCUS ON THE SPECIFIC DUTIES FOR THE PRINCIPAL AND SPECIFIC DUTIES FOR A VICE PRINCIPAL WHERE IN SOME SCHOOLS IT SEEMS THE PRINCIPAL MAY BE DOING BOTH. AS ESPECIALLY THE SCHOOLS ARE GROWING, I ALSO THINK THAT HAS BEEN OUR ARGUMENT BUT I ALSO THINK THE IDEA OF A VICE PRINCIPAL IN THIS TIME IS NOT ONLY FOR THE SOCIAL EMOTIONAL BUT WE HAVE A LOT OF NEW ADOPTIONS. OUR SCHOOLS ARE MUCH MORE

I THINK HAVING ANOTHER ADMINISTRATOR ON THE CAMPUS HELPS TO ADDRESS SOME OF THOSE THINGS THAT WE DID NOT PERCEIVE.

IN THE OLD DAYS I THINK PRINCIPLES OF SMALL SCHOOLS OR MEDIUM-SIZE SCHOOLS, IT WAS MANAGEABLE.

THEY COULD ALWAYS USE ANOTHER ADULT.

I THINK WE HAVE TO LOOK AT THE COMPLEXITY OF OUR SCHOOLS NOW.

MORE IMPORTANTLY THE CONSIDER COMING BACK TO THE SCHOOL THERE NEEDS, WHETHER IT IS BEHAVIOR OR THE BURNOUT OF TEACHERS.

I THINK THE SUPPORT IS IMPO IMPORTANT.

THAT IS MY THOUGHTS ON THAT. I AM IN SUPPORT OF OPTION ONE.

I WOULD PROBABLY RALLY FOR ADDITIONAL SOCIAL WORKERS TO REMAIN FUNDING ONCE THE SOURCE RUNS OUT.

I THINK IT'S SO VALUABLE AND IT'S ONE OF HER STRENGTHS IN THIS DISTRICT HAVING THE NUMBER OF SOCIAL WORKERS.

I APPRECIATE THE BOARD RECOGNIZING SICK HERITAGE WEEK LAST YEAR. WITH PROGRAMS WE'RE ABLE TO STRENGTHEN ON CAMPUS WHEN I SEE PROGRAMS AND TABLING AT LUNCH LETTING OUR STUDENT BODY KNOW ABOUT HER BACKGROUND, BRINGS ME GREAT JOY. I AM ABLE TO WALK WITH MY HEAD UP HIGH. I SEE THE CONFIDENCE BUILDING WITHIN OUR STUDENT BODY ESPECIALLY THOSE THAT ARE NEW TOO THE COUNTRY. IN THE UNITED STATES WAS BUILT IN THE EARLY 1900S AND STOCKTON CALIFORNIA. TODAY WE HAVE THEM ALL OVER CALIFORNIA AND ALL OF THE UNITED STATES.

YOU CAN FIND THEM IN MOST COUNTRIES AROUND THE WORLD.

OUR PEOPLE HAVE FACED A LOT OF DISCRIMINATION WHEN THEY FIRST GOT HERE THEY COULD NOT GET GOOD JOBS AND THEY COULD NOT OWN THAT AND THEY COULD NOT BECOME CITIZENS OF THIS LAND.

ALTHOUGH TIMES HAVE CHANGED AS A WHOLE WE STILL SEE FORMS OF DISCRIMINATION TO THIS DAY. THE FIRST EVER AMERICAN CONGRESSMAN WAS A SIKH. HE WAS ELECTED IN THE CONGRESS IN 1957 IN THE DISTRICT OF CALIFORNIA.

TODAY CALIFORNIA HAS A LOGISTIC POPULATION IN THE UNITED STATES.

OUR PEOPLE WORK HARD EVERY DAY AS FARMERS, FACTORY WORKERS, TEACHERS, HEALTH PROFESSIONALS, BUSINESS PROFESSIONALS AND WERE EVEN REPRESENTED THE SCHOOL BOARD MEMBERS.

EVEN WITH ALL THE GREAT ACHIEVEMENTS COMMUNITY FACES STRUGGLES, ESPECIALLY IN THE SPPANDEMIC.

HOWEVER, WE ARE STILL STANDING ON OUR FEET TILL THIS DAY AND WE WILL CONTINUE TO STAND AND BUILD UPON THE FOUNDATIONS WITH THOSE WHO CAME BEFORE US. THANK YOU.
