THANK YOU, EVERYONE, FOR YOUR HARD WORK.
REALLY APPRECIATE THAT. SO I HOPE EVERYBODY IS GOING
TO HAVE A GREAT SUMMER. >> I ONLY HAVE ONE THING I WANT TO SHARE REAL QUICKLY. THAT'S IT'S, IT ALWAYS HELPS US GET RECENTERED AND LOWER BLOOD PRESSURE AND ALL THAT STUFF WHEN YOU WALK INTO CLASSROOMS, THAT'S WHAT I WAS ABLE TO DO TODAY AT TWO DIFFERENT SCHOOLS.
SPECIFICALLY LOOKING AT LITERACY AND HOW WE ARE ADDRESSING LITERACY, OUR FOCUS OF LITERACY DURING SUMMER SCHOOL. I HAD A GREAT TIME.
I WANT TOE THANK STAFF WHO ACCOMPANIED ME ON THAT EXPERIENCE DAY ON THE JOURNEY OF LOOKING IN CLASSROOMS, TALKING TO TEACHERS AND KIDS.
APPRECIATE YOUR TIME. IT WAS IN YOUR BUSY SCHEDULES, SUPERINTENDENT EVANS.
>> YEAH, I HAVE A SHORT 8-PAGE -- [LAUGHTER] NOTHING TO REPORT.
>> HE'S GOING TO SAVE THE EIGHT PAGES TO THE END.
[XI. PUBLIC COMMENTS]
[LAUGHTER] MEMBERS OF THE PUBLIC WERE GIVEN THE OPPORTUNITY TO ATTEND THE BOARD MEETING IN PERSON. TO GIVE PUBLIC COMMENT OR THEY'RE ABLE TO SUBMIT A PUBLIC COMMENT VEEO EENT COMMENT AT PUBLIC COMMENT AT NATOMAS UNIFIED.ORG.SO I'M, BEFORE I ASK IF THERE ARE, I THINK THERE ARE, I HAVE SOME GREEN SLIPS UP HERE -- THERE WE GO.
I GOT A COUPLE OF GREEN SLIPS HERE.
I'VE GOT TWO OF THEM. AND I'M GOING TO ASK THAT, TO INVITE THE PEOPLE TO THE PODIUM WHEN IT'S TIME.
YOU HAVE TWO MINUTES. WE HAVE THIS LITTLE TIMER ON THE PODIUM UP HERE. THE FIRST PERSON IS NANCY STEVENS AND THEN RICK STEVENS.
[00:05:03]
WELCOME. >> GOOD EVENING, SUPERINTENDENT, GOOD AFTERNOON, BOARD MEMBERS, MY NAME IS NANCY STEVENS. I LIVE RIGHT BEHIND JEFFERSON ELEMENTARY ON CAUSEY DRIVE.
CAME TO OUR ATTENTION UNFORTUNATELY ABOUT A WEEK AGO THAT THERE WAS A PLAN DUMPSTER 37 FEET ACROSS THE STREET FROM MY DRIVEWAY. THIS CAUSED US STRESS OF COURSE BECAUSE DUMPSTERS NEED A WIDE BERTH TO GET AROUND AND THEY ALSO HAVE PROBLEMS THEY -- PROPS THEY MUST LET DO. IN ORDER TO GO AT THE DUMPSTER THEY'LL MOST DEFINITELY BACK UP INTO OUR DRIVEWAY WHICH WILL MOST CERTAINLY CAUSE DAMAGE TO OUR CONVENIENCE AND POSSIBLY OUR HOME.
NONE OF THE OTHER SCHOOLS THAT WE'VE LOOKED AT INCLUDING AMERICAN LAKES, SPANNEN CREEK, ANY OF THE HIGH SCHOOLS, THEY ALL HAVE THE DUMPSTERS WHERE THEY SHOULD BE IN THE PARKING LOT.
WHY THIS WAS CONSIDERED A GOOD IDEA TO BE PUT SO CLOSE TO OUR HOME, I DON'T KNOW. I ALSO WANT TO UNDERSCORE DUMPSTERS COME ANYWHERE FROM 3:30 AM TO 6:00 AM EVEN THOUGH BY CITY CODE THEY'RE NOT SUPPOSED TO COME UNTIL 7:00 AM. WE'VE CALLED THE DISTRICT ABOUT THAT BECAUSE THE DUMPSTER WAS FURTHER OVER WHERE IT WAS A CLEAR SHOT FROM CLOUD VIEW DRIVE.
WHICH WOULD HAVE BEEN FINE IF THEY COME AT 7:00 BUT THEY COME SUPEREARLY IN THE MORNING.
I WANT TO UNDERSCORE HOW COMPLETELY TERRIFYING IT IS TO ME TO THINK OF THE GIANT TRUCKS AND THEY'RE VERY LARGE TRUCKS COMING IN, BACKING UP INTO MY DRIVEWAY, GOING AT THAT AND POSSIBLY DAMAGING MY PROPERTY.
I WILL SAY THAT MANY, WE TAKE GREAT PRIDE IN OUR HOMES, I'M SURE ALL OF YOU DO.
MANY THAT ARE WALKING TO THE PARK HAVE OFTEN COMMENTED HOW BEAUTIFUL OUR YARD IS BECAUSE WE LIKE FLOWERS, I WANT YOU TO CONSIDER, PLEASE, PLEASE NOT GOING THROUGH HAVING THE DUMPSTER TO CLOSE TO OUR HOME, THANK
YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR TIME. >> MY NAME IS RICK STEVENS BEFORE I'M BEEN VACCINATED BUT I FEEL NAKED WITHOUT THIS, IF I COULD BE UNDER I PREFER TO WEAR IT.
AS NANCY SAID, WE FOUND OUT LAST WEEK THAT THE DUMPSTERS WERE PLANNING ON BEING PUT RIGHT, I MEAN WE'RE TALKING ABOUT RIGHT ACROSS THE STREET FROM HERE TO THE WALL FROM OUR HOUSE. WE PREPARED A PACKET.
HAS INFORMATION THAT TALKS ABOUT THE ARE IMPORTANT THINGS. ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT THINGS IS THAT WE HAVE BEEN TOLD BY A KNOWLEDGEABLE REAL ESTATE PERSON THAT THAT BRING DOWN OUR PROPERTY VALUE SUBSTANTIALLY. A DUMPSTER FROM HERE TO THE WALL FROM OUR FRONT YARD. THAT INCLUDES OUR NEIGHBORS.
WITH THE DOMINO EFFECT, THAT INCLUDES THE NEIGHBORHOOD.
THE PROPERTY VALUES FOR THE NEIGHBORHOOD WILL COME DOWN.
IT DOESN'T SEEM THAT THE SCHOOL DISTRICT, WE'VE HAD A GOOD RELATIONSHIP WITH THE SCHOOL DISTRICT.
WE HAVE BEEN THERE SINCE 1986 BEFORE THE SCHOOL WAS BUILT. WE'VE HAD A GOOD RELATIONSHIP WITH THE SCHOOL.
I THINK WE'VE BEEN GOOD NEIGHBORS AND IT DOESN'T SEEM LIKE THE SCHOOL WOULD BE INTERESTED IN BRINGING DOWN THE PROPERTY VALUES OF THE NEIGHBORING HOMES, ESPECIALLY WHEN IS THERE A REASONABLE ALTERNATIVE AND THE REASONABLE ALTERNATIVES CAN BE FOUND ALL THROUGH HERE. PARTICULARLY ON THE BACK PAGE. WE'RE IN THE UPPER LEFT.
THERE ARE PLENTY OF SPACES IN THE FRONT PARKING LOT THAT ARE WAY FARR AWAY FROM ANY NEIGHBORHOOD HOMES.
THEY WON'T BE AFFECTED AT ALL BY DUMPSTERS BEING THERE. WHEREAS OURS AND OUR NEIGHBORS' AND THE WHOLE NEIGHBORHOOD WOULD BE ADVERSELY AFFECTED. OKAY.
>> DID WE RECEIVE E. COMMENTS?
>> WE DID NOT RECEIVE E. COMMENTS FOR ITEMS NOT ON
THE AGENDA? >> THANK YOU, MOVING ON TO

AGREEMENT WITH AM S..NET FOR THE PURCHASE AND INSTALLATION OF A WIRELESS -- QUESTION, SUPERINTENDENT EVANS, AS I SEE THE NEXT THREE ACTION ITEMS, CAN YOU JUST BRIEFLY COMMENT WHYWE'RE DO DOING THIS? >> SURE ALTHOUGH I'M NOT THE TECH EXPERT, THIS IS GOING TO ALLOW US TO BOOST OUR WIIFY SIGNAL BEYOND THE BOUNDARIES OF OUR SCHOOL AROUND EACH SCHOOL SITE. WE PUT THEM UP AT A NUMBER OF LOCATIONS. ONE OF THE THINS WE WANTED TO MAKE SURE WE'RE NOT GOING INTO THE INTERNET BUSINESS.
WE'RE NOT TRYING TO TAKE OVER X. FINNITY OR VALENTINE'S DAY. WE DON'T HAVE THE PEOPLE OR SUPPORT IF IN ONE CHILD'S BEDROOM IS NOT RECEIVED AS OPPOSED TO THE LIVING ROOM BUT WHAT WE'RE TRYING TO DO IS SOMETHING THAT WE THOUGHT VERY IMPOSSIBLE FIVE YEARS AGO WHICH IS CONTINUE TO TAKE -- THIS WOULD GIVE A NUMBER OF THEM FREE ACCESS TO THE TOWERS. IT ITSELF WON'T SOLVE EVERYTHING BUT THE OVERALL MILLION DOLLAR THAT YOU SEE IN THE NEXT THREE ITENSE WE HOPE WILL -- SAVE MONEY TO KEEP THE HOT SPOTTS AND THE X. FINNITY PARTNERSHIPS GOING. OVERTIME WE HOPE TO SHRINK THAT SIGNIFICANTLY AND WITH THE TOWERS STILL PROVIDE OUR FAMILIES WITH INTERNET ACCESS AS ONE OF THE THINGS WE LEARNED FROM THE PANDEMIC CAN BE A GAME CHANGER FOR THOSE WHO CAN'T ACCESS OR AFFORD IT OR WE FOUND IN MANY CASES, VERY STRICT POLICIES FOR COMPANIES WITH LATE FINES AND LATE FEES. THAT WOULD NOT ALLOW FAMILIES TO EVEN GET THE LOWER ACCESS.
WE'RE LOPING THIS WILL HELP A NUMBER OF THEM.
